A correlation-based inversion method for aerosol property (CIMAP) retrieval from AERONET measurements

چکیده
We developed a principal-component based inversion approach – CIMAP, to retrieve aerosol properties from AERONET measurements of optical depths (AODs) and sky radiances. Capitalizing on the correlation in properties, CIMAP reduces retrieval parameter space saves time by more than 80% adopting 7-8 principal components process, compared retrievals regular space. As algorithm test, is implemented 60 sets observations several selected areas southern California, Africa, north China around Beijing, results are measurement operational products. The mean absolute differences found be 0.004, 0.019, 0.032, 0.039, 0.003 0.044µm for AOD, single scattering albedo, Ångström exponent, real imaginary parts refractive index effective radius aerosols, respectively. These within or close uncertainties.

Evaluation of VIIRS Land Aerosol Model Selection with AERONET Measurements
The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) is a next-generation polar-orbiting operational environmental sensor with a capability for global aerosol observations. Identifying land aerosol types is important because aerosol types are a basic input in retrieving aerosol optical properties for VIIRS. The VIIRS algorithm can automatically select the optimal land aerosol model by minimizi...
متن کاملA long-term record of aerosol optical depth from TOMS observations and comparison to AERONET measurements
Observations of backscattered near-ultraviolet radiation from the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) on board the Nimbus-7 (1979–92) and the Earth Probe (mid-1996 to present) satellites have been used to derive a long-term record of aerosol optical depth over oceans and continents. The retrieval technique applied to the TOMS data makes use of two unique advantages of near-UV remote sensing...

متن کاملAerosol Property Retrieval Algorithm over Northeast Asia from TANSO-CAI Measurements Onboard GOSAT
The presence of aerosol has resulted in serious limitations in the data coverage and large uncertainties in retrieving carbon dioxide (CO2) amounts from satellite measurements. For this reason, an aerosol retrieval algorithm was developed for the Thermal and Near-infrared Sensor for carbon Observation-Cloud and Aerosol Imager (TANSO-CAI) launched in January 2009 on board the Greenhouse Gases Ob...
